Last Will and Testament of
Peter Pickett of Fogo Fisherman
deceased.
In the name of God Amen. I Peter Pickett of
Fogo in the Northern district of Newfoundland fisherman being sick of body
but through the goodness of Almighty God of perfect sound mind and memory,
do make and ordain this my last will and testament cancelling and annulling
any other will or testament hitherto made by me.
First I give and
bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my body to
the earth to be buried after a decent Christian manner in the Roman Catholic
Cemetery at Fogo.
Secondly. As to my worldly goods after paying the
expense of my funeral, headstone and all my just and lawful debts I give and
bequeath my dwelling house fishing room and ground together with outhouses
traps seine nets cordage boats skiffs and all other utensils belonging to them
to my Brother John Pickett and my sisters Ellen Pickett,
Annastasia Pickett, Johannah Pickett, Honora Furlong and Ellen Layman while
living and after their deaths the said property to be equally divided between William
Pickett William Layman and Richard Layman.
Thirdly. To my nephew William
Layman I give the sum of one hundred pounds cy cash and the fishing
boat now known as his own.
Fourthly. To my nephews William Pickett I leave the sum of
one hundred pounds cy cash

| Fifthly. To the Roman Catholic Church

Ellen Layman one hundred pounds cy cash.
The remainder of the money
in the Banks or otherwise due me to be equally divided between my brother John
Pickett, Ellen Pickett, Annastasia Pickett and Johannah Pickett, and for their
use while living, and after their deaths to be equally divided, between William
Pickett, William Layman, Richard Layman and Ellen Layman. In witness whereof
I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Fogo Newfoundland this twenty second
day of March one thousand nine hundred and one. (Sgd) Peter Pickett. Signed
Sealed acknowledged published and delivered by the said Testator in the presence
of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other after having been
read over have signed our hands as witnesses (sgd) Michael C. Pickett (sgd)
Clarence J. Fitzgerald.
Codicil. I Peter Pickett do hereby
nominate and appoint Richard Layman executor of this my last will and testament.

I certify the foregoing to be a correct
copy of the last will and Testament of Peter Pickett deceased
