Last will and testament
of William Perry

I, William Perry, of Indian Islands, Island of Newfoundland, being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say: 1. I give and devise to my second son, Philip Perry, one half the two stores, together with the piece of meadow land, known as "Long Meadow" situated near my dwelling house in the island aforesaid and containing     acres, or thereabouts and to his heirs and assigns forever. I give and devise, also to said Philip Perry and his assigns forever, all the piece of land situated on the south side of island aforesaid, now in his possession, and known as the "Road Garden" containing     acres or thereabouts together with one third of all the land not under cultivation. 2. I give and devise to my second daughter Ellen Perry, one third of new dwelling in which I now reside, and a third of the land upon which it stands and surrounding the said dwelling containing     acres or thereabouts also the big clock. I give and bequeath unto my said daughter the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid to her within one month after my death without interest these $200.00 are a special gift and are entirely separate from sums to be hereafter named. I give and devise to my said daughter one half the shop and goods found therein at my death. I give and devise to my said daughter the piece of cultivated land adjoining the property of Wm. George Collins, south side Indian Islands containing   acres or thereabouts. I give and devise to my said daughter one half the third of the uncultivated land. 3. I give and devise, to my fourth son, Levi Perry, one third of the dwelling in which I now reside, situated at Indian Islands aforesaid, together with one third of the land attached. I give and devise to my said fourth son, one half the two stores, situated near dwelling, aforesaid with the proviso that my two daughters, Ellen and Adelaide Perry, have the right to use the stores while they reside on aforesaid island, if occasion require them. I give and devise to said son, Levi, the writing desk, without contents. I give and devise to said fourth son, my share of the land known as grass ground, situated on the south side, Indian Islands, lying between the property of my two brothers Nicholas and Philip Perry, together with one third of the land not now under cultivation. 4. I give and devise to my fourth daughter, Adelaide Perry, one third of my dwelling aforesaid, situated at Indian Islands, also my silver watch and chain, together with one third of the land surrounding the said house. I give and devise to said fourth daughter, one equal half of the shop and goods, and half the strip of ground adjoining George Collins, south side, Indian Islands. 5. I give devise and bequeath in equal shares to my children aforementioned, namely Philip Perry, Ellen Perry, Levi Perry, and Adelaide Perry all the money held in my name, and at my credit. 6. I also bequeath the following legacies to the several persons hereafter named. To my grandchild Bertha Perry, the sum of ($60.00) sixty dollars, of which a part will be paid in a gold twenty dollar piece, and a gold ring is not included in the gift of money. To my grandchild Emily Perry, the sum of forty dollars, to my grandchild, Hetty Perry, the sum of forty dollars. 7. I give and devise to my children, Philip, Levi Ellen and Addie Perry the schooner "Ostrich" to be shared as follows: one third to Philip, one third to Levi and one third, to be divided equally between Ellen and Adelaide. 8. It is my will that my funeral shall be conducted without pomp or ostentation, and that the expenses thereof, together with all my just debts be fully paid. 9. I appoint my said sons executors of this my will, and desire that they shall not be required to give any security for the performance of their duties. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this seventh day of January A.D. 1890 William Perry Signed published and declared by the above named William Perry as his last will and testament, in presence of us, who, at his request have signed as witnesses of the same. I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and testament of William Perry.
