The last will and testament
of Job Pelley
of Random Sound Planter Deceased
.

In the name of God Amen. This is the last will & testament of Job Pelly of Robinson's Bight Random Sound Trinity Bay Newfoundland. I hereby give devise and bequeath to my son Sydney Pelly & his heirs & succeeding heirs all that piece of land called Halfyards situate in Random Sound Trinity bay, and I hereby give devise and bequeath to be divided equally between my sons Sidney Pelly & John Pelly to their heirs & succeeding heirs forever, the mill situated at Shorts Brook, together with piece of land extending eastward from said Shorts Brook to the extent of my land as per government grant and I hereby give devise & bequeath to be divided equally between my daughters Lucy Janes & Elizabeth Strong Pelly to their children & children's children forever all that land extending from Short's Brook westward to the distance of one hundred & fifty yards (150) and I hereby give devise & bequeath to my sons Daniel Pelly & Norman Pelly their heirs & succeeding heirs, to be divided into equal portions all the land from a point one hundred & fifty yards (150) westward of Short's Brook to ??? Head Path end garden excepted, which I hereby give devise & bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Pelly to be disposed of as she shall deem proper. And I hereby give devise & bequeath to the aforesaid Daniel Pelly Norman Pelly & German Pelly three fourths of mill situated at Robinson's Bight Random Sound Trinity bay to be divided equally belonging to their heirs & succeeding heirs and succeeding heirs forever. And I hereby give devise & bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Pelly so long as she shall remain unmarried the remaining fourth of the aforesaid mill situated at Robinsons Bight Random. It being for the support of the aforesaid Elizabeth Pelly & her daughter Elizabeth Strong Pelly and I hereby give devise and bequeath after the decease of the aforesaid Elizabeth Pelly her allotted fourth to be divided equally between my three sons Daniel Pelly & Norman Pelly & German Pelly belonging to their heirs & succeeding heirs forever They the said Daniel Pelly Norman Pelly & German Pelly to support their sister Elizabeth Strong Pelly so long as she shall remain unmarried. All buildings whatsoever on the said piece of land extending from a point one hundred & fifty yards westward from Shorts to Bluff Head I hereby give devise & bequeath to my sons Norman Pelly & German Pelly their heirs & their heirs (heirs) forever. I hereby give devise & bequeath to my sons Daniel Pelly Norman Pelly & German Pelly as a company the three houses to dispose of as they shall agree among themselves and I hereby give devise & bequeath to my wife Elizabeth, the cow and calf and whatever sheep shall be alive at my decease except one which shall be my daughter's Elizabeth Strong Pelly Also I hereby give devise & bequeath to my sons Sidney John Daniel Norman & German all my agricultural implements and tools, the said implements & tools however to be used by either only with the consent of my wife Elizabeth Pelly and I hereby give devise & bequeath to my son Norman Pelly my watch and I hereby give devise & bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Pelly for her use so long as she remains unmarried all my household furniture and I hereby give devise & bequeath the sum of fifty pounds (£50) currency to be divided equally amongst my eight children viz:- Janet King, Lucy Janes, Sidney Pelly Elizabeth Strong Pelly, John Pelly Daniel Pelly & German Pelly. And I hereby give devise & bequeath whatever cash remains after my decease & after paying all just debts & claims to my wife Elizabeth for her use so long as she remains unmarried whatever cash remains should she (Elizabeth Pelly) remarry, or upon her decease, shall be divided equally among my eight children Janet King Lucy Janes Sidney Pelly Elizabeth Strong Pelly John Pelly Daniel Pelly Norman Pelly & German Pelly and I do hereby appoint Richard Reed of Fosters Point Random Sound Trinity Bay & Pierce Currie of Britannia Cove Smith's Sound Trinity Bay executors of my will. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this fourth day of April one thousand eight hundred & eighty nine. Signed Job his x mark Pelly & acknowledged by him to be his last will and testament in the presence of us present at the same time & subscribed by us in the presence of the said testator & of each other Signed in the presence of us Jabez Moore Britannia Cove Richard Reed Fosters Point.
