PREROGATIVE COURT OF CANTERBURY

 

THE WILL OF HENRY HITCHCOCK
OLD PERLICAN 1805

 

In the name of God Amen the Tenth day of October and in the year of our lord One thousand eight hundred and five I HENRY HITCHCOCK now residing in the Harbour of OLD PERLICAN, Trinity Bay Newfoundland calling into mind the mortality of my body but at present in perfect health mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form I give and bequeath to SUSANNA my dearly beloved wife whom I constitute make and ordain my sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament all and singular my money and property wherever it may be or whose hands it may be in by her freely to be possessed and enjoyed and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments wills legacies and bequests and Executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequested ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written. HENRY HITCHCOCK signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Henry Hitchcock as his last Will and testament in the presents of us the subscribers JAMES GABY SENR JAMES GABY JUNIOR.

Proved at London 15th August 1831 before the Judge by the Oath of SUSANNAH HITCHCOCK WIDOW the Relict the sole Executrix to whom admon. Was granted being first sworn by ? duly to ?


Note: While the witness names look like “Gaby”, it is likely “Goby/Gooby” .
