PREROGATIVE COURT OF CANTERBURY

THE WILL OF WILLIAM GREEN
TRINITY 1753

In the Name of God Amen the fifth day of June the year of our Lord 1753 I WILLIAM GREEN of WINBORN in the County of DORSETT and now of TRINITY in Newfoundland Planter being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory Thanks be given to God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die do make and order this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and fform. Suprimis I give and bequeath to my well beloved Kinsman WILLIAM GREEN the SON of my BROTHER JOHN GREEN the sum of two hundred and eleven pounds twelve shillings that is now in the hand of MR. JOHN SCOTT Merchant in CHRISTCHURCH in the County SOUTHAMPTON. Item I give to my Kinswoman SARAH MOORS the WIFE of JOHN MOORS one shilling and to all the rest of my relations sisters and others all and singular to them I give one shilling to be paid them by my Executor. Item I give to my well beloved BROTHER NICHOLAS GREEN whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my only and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament all and singular my plantation and all thereunto belonging lands messuages and tenements in England or in Newfoundland with all my goods chattels wearing cloths houses outhouses houshold goods and moveables all and every thing thereunto belonging or any ways of Right that was formerly money and likewise four hundred pounds in Money that is now in the hands of FFRANCIS MARKMAN DOCTOR at LIVINGTON(?) HANTS all and every thing herein mentioned by him or his assigns freely to be possessed and enjoyed and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testament Wills and Legacies Bequests and Executors by me in any ways before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

On the fifteenth day of November in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and fifty four. Administration with the Will annexed of the Goods Chattels and Credits of WILLIAM GREEN late of WINBURN in the County of DORSET but at Newfoundland in America BATCHELOR Deceased was granted to WILLIAM SKITTIER the lawfull Attorney of NICHOLAS GREEN the BROTHER of the said Deceased and sole Executor named in the said Will for the use and benefit of the said Executor now residing at Newfoundland aforesaid he having been first worn by Commission duly to administer.
