Will of Augustus Parsons
from Newfoundland will books volume 8 pages 266-268 probate year 1907

In re
      Augustus Parsons          deceased.

      I, Augustus Parsons of Coley’s Point, in the district of Harbor Grace, in the Island of Newfoundland, fisherman, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. And as to my worldly estate and all my property, real, personal, or mixed of which I shall die seized and possessed, or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my decease, I devise, bequeath and dispose thereof in the manner following, to wit: I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife, Mary Parsons, a home here in my house as long as she remains in my name, but should she marry again then she is to have no home here in my house, neither can she take any of my property away when leaving.

I give devise and bequeath to my son James Parsons, my house, outhouses, and all my land situated below Tippetts Lane, to be his, his heirs, executors, and administrators forever

I give devise and bequeath to my son Hayward Parsons the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, the said one hundred and fifty dollars to be given to him when he reaches the age of twenty years, I also give and bequeath to my said, son, Hayward Parsons, my watch one pair of cart wheels, cart and dray and all my land situated up the Pond, and my fishing room situated at Occasional Harbor Labrador, to have and to hold the same to him, the said Hayward Parsons, his heirs and assigns, to his and their use forever.

I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Susie Parsons the sum of Fifty dollars to be given to her when she reaches the age of eighteen years    My will is that all my money of which I shall die seized or possessed of (excepting the legacies willed to my son Hayward and my daughter Susie) shall be placed in the Bank for the use of my family, (said family includes my honoured father and mother, James and Ellen Parsons) for the support and maintenance of the said family, the sum of one hundred and ten dollars to be drawn from the bank yearly said sum to be drawn for the maintenance of my said family.

I also will that the legacies willed to my son Hayward & my daughter Susie be placed in the Bank in their name

I also will that all my fishing property be sold, namely traps, boats and other moveable property connected with the fishery but the fishing room itself must not be sold or hired.

And lastly, I do nominate and appoint my brother Jno Parsons, an Jonathan Parsons to be the executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said Augustus Parsons, have to this my last will and testament, consisting of one sheet of paper, subscribed my name and affixed my seal this fifteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and six Augustus Parsons, Signed, sealed published and declared by the said Augustus Parsons, as and for his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereunto witnesses Jonathan his X mark Parsons    Abram Parsons    James Norman
