Will of Patrick O'Neill
from Newfoundland will books vol 11 page 256 probate year 1918

In re Patrick O'Neill       deceased

This is the last Will and Testament of me, Patrick O'Neill of Firmeuse in the District of Ferryland, Fisherman at present a Private in the Newfoundland Regiment:-

  1. I appoint my sister Bridget Brophy, of Firmeuse the Executrix of this my Will.
  2. I direct that all my funeral and testamentary expenses be first paid in full.
  3. I leave all the property and effects whatsoever kind or description, real or personal, of which I die possessed to my aforesaid sister, Bridget Brophy, to be hers absolutely and forever.

Dated April 6th 1916. Pat O'Neill Signed published and declared as and for his last will and testament by the testator in our presence, who in his presence and at his request signed the same as witnesses. Helen Balfour.    L. E. Emerson.

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
