Will of Esther Mary O'Brien
from Newfoundland will books volume 13 page 172 probate year 1925

In re
      ESTHER MARY O’BRIEN.     DECEASED.

I the undersigned Esther Mary O’Brien, widow of the late Patrick O’Brien property holder of Bay Bulls do make this as my last will and testament.

I will and bequeath to my daughter Mary Ronayne all my recognized property, viz. my house and all the appurtenances & my other property viz the water-side property now under lease to Job Brothers; the land on the North Side of the River, bounded on the South and East by the road, and North-West by Mara’s land; also that on Moakler’s Road bounded on the North by Michael Coady’s land, on the South by Cornelius O’Brien’s, bounded also by the river and the hill.
After all my funeral expenses and other lawful debts shall have been paid the remainder of my money is to be given partly for masses for the repose of my own soul; partly for masses for the repose of the souls of myself and husband united; and partly for charitable purposes. The portion of the money to be assigned to each of these three items is left to the discretion of my daughter whose name I have already mentioned.

The determining of the object and manner of the charitable bequest is also left to the discretion of my daughter. I wish and direct that all should be arranged as soon as possible after my death; and I hereby appoint the Rev. C. A. McCarthy C.C. of Witless Bay, and Mary Ronayne as executor and executrix respectively.
