Alfred Northfield

Will of Alfred Northfield, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 page 221 probate year 1930

IN RE.          DECEASED

ALFRED NORTHFIELD

This is my last will and testament made in St John's Newfoundland this twenty fifth day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight. I give devise and bequeath all my mortgage tenements I hold by respective leases consisting at present of the house No 12 Bell Street and the three double tenement house Nos 4.6 and 8 Knight Street St John's and all my household furnitures, goods and chattels, money secured by my Life Insurance and all other parts of my personal estate and effects whatsoever unto my wife Louise Ann Northfield and to my daughter Edith Caroline Northfield, to and for their own absolute use and benefit, according to the nature and quality thereof respectively, subject only to the payment of my just debts and expenses and the charges of proving and registering this my will.
It is further my wish that should these two, wife and daughter precede me, and no heirs be found in Newfoundland, either by possible marriage of my daughter or any of my Swedish relatives visiting here, which in such case should fall in for their share, the property left, when realised its value by public auction, and accounts settled by my attorney the balance cash to be sent to my sister Mrs Emma Lutterman 11 Observatoris Street Stockholm. Should we agree that my stay in Stockholm be longer and that my sister Emma Luttermans lifetime be longer than anticipated, and should finish my days in my native country I am satisfied to be buried in the place where my own mother, father and other relatives are resting.
In case of emergency and what we cannot foretell should happen I will have further instructions ready for my attorney. As for the execution hereof. Which will be, if alive, I will receive my own in person from the hands of my actioneer and Notary Public Mr P.C. O'Driscoll St John's.
Signed, sealed and delivered in three copis alike in presence of Frederick Theophilus Lukias
