Will of Richard Neyle

Richard Neyle deceased.
This is the last will and Testament
of me Richard Neyle of St. John’s Nfld. I give and bequeath to my
dear Daughter Maud Hall Neyle my Dwelling house, and all its contents,
with the land on which it is built. Also the land on which the adjoining
house is built, leased to the Trustees of the Gower St. Church at $50.
per annum. Also all my Government Debentures and my shares in the Boot & Shoe
Factory - My Daughter Maud is to pay Mrs. Isabel
Byron Stacy who has a
life interest in the property the sum of £19. Sterling per annum
as long as she lives. Should my Daughter marry the Government debentures
and my shares in the Boot & Shoe Factory and the yearly rental of the
land leased to the Trustees of Gower St. Church shall be given divided
equally and jointly to my surviving daughters share and share alike. And
in the event of her death the house and the contents also the Government
debentures and the rent of the lands $50. per annum. Also the Boot & Shoe
stock to be given equally and jointly to my surviving daughters bearing
in mind that Mrs. Stacy’s life interest is to be paid, up to the
time of her death.
2nd. I give
and bequeath to my Daughter Millie Smith the 3,000 Dollars amount of mortgage
on the house and Farm mortgaged to her husband R.C. Smith. Also the five
shares of $500 in the Thomson & Sutherland Co. of North Sydney.
3rd. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Bertha
Hall Hill $3000 amount of Mortgage on “Dingley Dell” cottage & land
mortgaged to W.R. Warren Solicitor Waterford Bridge Road also $300 loaned
to James B. Soper.
4th I give and
bequeath to my Daughter Annie Knight the land leased to Mr
Mc Crudden Painter
Kings Road. Also my life Insurance of $400. Also my shares in the Consolidated
5th I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Murray the dwelling and shop in Water Street leased to Mr
W.V. Drayton also the
interest & principal of $500. loaned to Mr. W.V. Drayton 8% per annum
Also a piece of land situated at Topsail purchased from Mr. James
Mellis formerly of St. John’s
6th. It is my will and desire that
the legacies provided for in the will of my deceased wife Elizabeth
be paid out of my Estate as follows. The
sum of $630 dollars be given to Isabel Byron Stacy should she survive me
and if not the sum of $800. dollars be given to Frederick W. Finlay the
nephew of my wife.
7th. I also
bequeath and give to my daughters also all monies (after the Legacies are
paid) in any Bank arising from principal and interest due me or in my possession
at the time of my decease. I hereby appoint
my daughter Maud Hall and my sons in law Robt
C. Smith and Edwin Murray my sole executrix
and executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I
have hereby set my hand at St. John’s Nfld. Feby 25/14 (Sgd) Richard
In consequence of the
death of my son in law Mr. Robt C. Smith and the removal
from the colony of my son in law Edwin Murray when I
appointed my executors Feby 25. 1914 I hereby appoint my son in law John
Hill as my executor to act in
conjunction with my Daughter Maud Hall Neyle. I
give and bequeath to my Grand son Edwin Neyle Murray my
gold watch & chain
