Will of Maurice Murphy from Newfoundland will books volume 14 page 409 probate year 1929

In re       DECEASED.
      MAURICE MURPHY.

THIS is the last will and testament of me Maurice Murphy of Saint John's Carpenter.

  1. I give devise and bequeath to my son David Murphy of New York in the State of New York in the United States of America my dwelling house land and premises situate on Barter's Hill in Saint John's aforesaid and numbered 38 absolutely but subject to all rents and outgoings in respect thereof.
  2. I give devise and bequeath to Reverend Michael J. Kennedy the sum of five dollars to be expended for Masses for the repose of my soul.
  3. All the rest residue and remainder of my property moneys estate and effects of every description I give devise and bequeath absolutely as follows: to my son David Murphy one fifth share; to my nephew James Hearn of Low Point, in the district of Bay de Verde one fifth share; to my sister Bridget Hearn of Low Pont aforesaid Married Woman WIDOW one fifth share; to my niece Anastatia Murphy of Saint John's aforesaid Spinster one fifth share; to my niece Jane Murphy of Saint John's aforesaid Spinster one tenth share; to my niece Mary Frances Flynn of Bay de Verde married woman one tenth share.
  4. I appoint the said Anastatia Murphy executrix of this my will.

WITNESS my hand at Saint John's aforesaid this 13th day of December Anno Domini one thousand nine hundred and twenty eight.

PUBLISHED AND DECLARED by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other (all present at the same time) have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses (The same having been first read over and explained to the said testator and approved of by him) The alteration on line 6 in paragraph 3 of the foregoing page having been first made.
