Mary Munden
Will of Mary Munden In re In the name of God Amen. I Mary Munden of Brigus Widow being far advanced in years but of sound and perfect senses thanks be unto Almighty God, do make this my last will and testament. First I give my soul unto God who gave it and my body to burried in a Christian like manner. 2ndly I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Edna Willcox after my death the gold ring now on my finger and a set of casters- 3rdly: I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Annanias the large looking glass now hanging in the parlour and three silver tea spoons. 4thly: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Mary Ann Whealon a pair of silver sugar tongs. 5thly: I give and bequeath unto my daughter-in-law Grace Munden a peuter teapot, the whole of the above named articles to be taken out of my proportion of articles remaining in the house. 6thly, I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Maria Mercer Forty pounds cash currency to be taken out of my proportion of whatever money may be remaining after my death. Lastly I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Thomas the whole of my proportion of all lands and other property belonging to the estate of my late husband together with the whole of my proportion of whatever money may be remaining after deducting forty pounds cy (for Maria Mercer) and my funeral expenses are paid. I do hereby constitute and appoint Mr. Nathan Norman and Mr. Azariah Munden to be executors of this my last will and testament. Mary her X mark Munden. Witnesses John Bartlett Wm. Horwood, signed in the presence of us above named witnesses, this twenty fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & sixty A.D. 1860. Certified correct,

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are either hand-written copies or in later years typed copies of a, "last will and testament," written or typed by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor. We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be. |
