Last will and testament of Kenneth
Morris Lower Island Cove Newfoundland I
Kenneth Morris of Lower Island Cove, in the district of Bay de Verde, Colony
of Newfoundland, being of lawful age, sound mind, memory and understanding,
do make my last will and testament in manner and form following, and all
other wills made by me are hereby annulled:-
First, I give, devise and bequeath to my nephew Roland
Kenneth Morris,
the sum of Four hundred dollars ($400.00 now deposited in the Bank of Montreal,
St. John’s, Newfoundland, the same shall be at the time of my death,
upon the following conditions:- The amount
of Four hundred dollars ($400.00) is to remain in the Bank of Montreal
St. John’s bearing interest until the said Roland Kenneth
Morris has attained sufficient education to attend a college or university at
St. John’s. Upon his having passed
at least the Intermediate Grade of the Council of Higher Education (or
some equivalent examination) and having satisfied my executor that he is
to attend college (the Methodist College, St. John’s) the said amount
of $400.00 shall be paid over to the guardian of the said Roland
Kenneth Morris in installments to wit: Fifty dollars ($500.00)
at the beginning of the school year, Fifty dollars ($50.00) at Christmas
and Fifty dollars ($50.00) at Easter, of each year while attending College
for three years. The interest which must be compounded,
is calculated to meet the deficit of ($50.00) Should the said Roland
Kenneth Morris be unable for any reason whatsoever, to comply with the foregoing
conditions, the said amount ($400.00) with compound interest shall be transferred
to my nephew Kenneth Morris son of my brother William
John upon the said
conditions as aforesaid. In case of both
failing to comply, the full amount ($400.00) shall be divided equally amongst
my brothers.
Second. I give devise
and bequeath to my nephew, Joseph Allen Morris, all my books and my sash
and apron of Royal Black Knights of Ireland, the same shall be at the time
of my death.
Third. I give devise
and bequeath to my brother Herbert, his heirs and assigns forever, all
my clothing and personal property, not otherwise mentioned in this will,
the same shall be at the time of my death.
Fourth I give, devise and bequeath to my brother Benjamin, his heirs and
assigns forever, my rifle, the same shall be at the time of my death.
Fifth. I give, devise and bequeath to my nephew William
John, son of my
brother Benjamin, all my remaining money which may be deposited to my credit
at any Bank or in any place whatsoever, to be used solely for his education,
the same shall be at the time of my death.
Sixth I give, devise and bequeath, to Ephraim
Sparkes, his heirs and assigns
forever, my L.O.A. Badge. The same shall be at the time of my death.
Seventh. I give, devise and bequeath to my nephew Kenneth
Rogers son of
my sister Sophie, of North Sydney, my camera, the same shall be at the
time of my death.
Eight I give
devise and bequeath to my sister Mary Ann Mosher of North
Sydney, my Bible, the same shall be at the time of my death Ninth I hereby
appoint Allan
G. Hudson Esq. J.P. executor of this my last will and testament. In
witness whereof I Kenneth
Morris, the testator have to this my last
will and testament set my hand this 1st day of October 1914
