Last will and testament
of Rebecca Moore
of St. John's widow Deceased

In the name of God Amen I Rebecca Moore of the town of Saint John's in the island of Newfoundland widow being of sound mind and disposing memory do make publish and declare this as and for my last will and testament in manner following that is to say; First I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Ann widow of John Berry absolutely for her sole and separate use except a charge made thereon as hereinafter contained in favour of my son-in-law Samuel Garrett all my right title and interest in and to all that piece of land with a dwelling house on a portion thereof situate and having a frontage of 18 feet 6 inches on Duckworth Street and a rearage of 30 feet more or less.
Second I give and bequeath to my daughter Emma wife of Samuel Garrett absolutely for her sole and separate use all my right title and interest in and to that piece of land to the Eastward of and immediately adjoining the before mentioned property which I have bequeathed to my daughter Mary Anne Berry the said property having a frontage on Duckworth Street of 21 feet more or less and a rearage of 33 feet more or less.
Third. I give and bequeath to my daughter Agnes wife of Dovestus Gaultious absolutely for her sole and separate use all right title and interest in and to that piece of land to the Eastward of and immediately adjoining the before mentioned property which I have bequeathed to my daughter Mary Anne Berry the said property has frontage on Duckworth Street of 21 feet more or less and a rearage of 33 feet more or less.
Third. I give and bequeath to my daughter Agnes wife of Dovestus Gaulton absolutely for her sole and separate use all my right title and interest in and to that piece of land to the eastward of and immediately adjoining the property last bequeathed and having a frontage of 20 feet on Duckworth Street aforesaid and a rearage of 28 feet 4 inches more or less.
Fourth. I give and bequeath to Rebecca widow of William Taylor absolutely for her sole and separate use all my right title and interest in and to the remainder of the land to the eastward of and immediately adjoining the property which I have bequeathed to my daughter Agnes and having a frontage on Duckworth Street of 25 feet more or less.
It is my will and desire that as my son-in law Samuel Garrett has expended a sum of about four hundred dollars in effecting repairs on the dwelling house which stands on a portion of the property I have bequeathed to my daughter Mary Ann Berry; my daughter Mary Anne Berry shall live in whichever half of the house she thinks best for herself and shall let the other tenement, and the rents thereof shall be paid to my son-in-law as a compensation for the moneys which he has laid out in the repairs already done or which he may in future be obliged to make in order to keep the house in a good tenantable condition or to the extent of any moneys being expended thereon.
When the indebtedness to my said son in law Samuel Garrett has been paid off then of course my daughter Mary Anne Berry shall receive the rents and will be at liberty to do what she pleases with the property and my daughter and my daughter Mary Ann Berry is to keep in repair the said dwelling house until the debt thereon due to my son in law Samuel Garrett is fully discharged
And I appoint my son in law Samuel Garrett to be executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said Rebecca Moore have hereunto set my hand this 16th day of January Anno Domini 1891 Rebecca her x mark Moore Signed published and declared by the said testatrix by affixing her mark as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses (having first been read over and explained) Charles H. Emerson William Bradley.
