     Philip Moore      deceased.

In the name of God Amen, I Philip Moore of Saint John's in the Island of Newfoundland Planter being ill and weak of bodily health but of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make this my last will and testament in form and manner following, viz. I first will and bequeath my immortal soul into the hands of the Almighty God who gave it and next my body to the earth to be enterd in a decent and Christian like manner and I order all my just and lawful debts to be paid.     I next will and bequeath to my beloved son William Moore the premises he occupies at the south side of this harbour for his full use and benefit during the term of the lease as yet unexpired from Mr. Hoyles he paying annually to my wife during said term Mary Moore and my two sons Philip Moore Junr and Thomas Moore on the first of October each year the sum of twenty pounds currency and in default of payment the land room and premises to become the property during the term unexpired of Mrs. Mary Moore, Philip Moore Junr and Thomas Moore
I next will and bequeath to my son Edward Moore one pound currency-
I also will and bequeath to my son Michael Moore one pound currency and also
I will and bequeath to my son John Moore one pound currency-
I next will and bequeath to my son David Moore one pound currency-
I also will and bequeath to my son James Moore one pound currency-
I next will and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Moore and to my two beloved sons Philip Moore Jr and Thomas Moore all my fishing room situate at Maggotty Cove all my dwelling houses and fishermen's houses fishing craft boats house furniture beds bedding all my goods monies wares and merchandise for their lawful use and benefit after my decease- and I order my wife Mary Moore and my two sons Philip Moore Junr and and Thomas Moore to continue the fishery business after my decease as I have usually done and after the decease of my wife Mary Moore the said property then belonging to the said Mary Moore. Philip Moore Junr and Thomas Moore to become the property of the said Philip Moore and Thomas Moore equal alike- and in case of the death of either of my two sons unmarried Philip or Thomas Moore the surviving brother to have all the property- and I also nominate and appoint the Honourable Laurence O'Brien and Michael Stafford Esqe to be my executors to have this my last will and testament executed- In witness whereof I the said Philip Moore Senr have hereunto my hand and seal subscribed and set at Saint John's Newfoundland the thirteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine.
