Will of Esau P. Mercer from Newfoundland will books volume 14 pages 240 -
241 probate year 1928
In re DECEASED.
ESAU P. MERCER.
I Esau P. Mercer of the town of Bay Roberts Island of Newfoundland Fisherman
being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last
will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills and testamentary dispositions
heretofore at any time by me. I hereby appoint Henry Norman of Asriah to be
sole executor of this my last will and testament.
I devise and bequeath to my wife Fannie the dwelling house and front garden
as long as she remains single and after her decease it is to become the property
of my son Wilfreds also all outhouses, their belongings with furniture of the
dwelling house.
The chest of drawers and chair I give to my son Esau.
The turning Lade and any carpenters tools I now possess is to become my son
Wilfreds.
My front land on the North side of the Street leading through Bay Roberts is
to be equally divided as it now stands.
1st. My Son Esau is to have strip of land bounded on the West by Capt Charles
Dawe's property.
2nd. My Son Charles is to have strip of land bounded on the west by my son
Esau.
3rd. My Son Wilfred strip of land my dwelling house is now on.
4th. My Son Fred is to have the small dwelling house and the land belonging
to the same.
The back land on the North Side of the path leading towards Spaniards Bay is
to be equally divided between my four sons Charles, Esau, Fred, Wilfred
Fred is not to give up the land where his house is and he is to have the land
where my house was taken from, and the old cabbage garden.
The land at Birch Hill is to be Freds.
Charles is not to have anything to do with the store or waterside land on the
South Side of the road leading through Bay Roberts.
My son Wilfred is to have all this part of the property.
Each of my four sons is to go to their property that is the back land leading
towards Spaniards Bay by the path leading through towards Spaniards Bay.
The uncleared back land is to become Freds and Wilfreds.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 6th day of November one
thousand nine hundred and twenty seven.

Signed sealed published and declared by Esau P. Mercer as his last will and
testament in the presence of us present at the same time, who at his request,
in the presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed
our names to the due execution hereof.
