Last Will and Testament of
Abraham Mercer of Bay Roberts
Fisherman deceased.
In the name of God Amen. I Abraham
Mercer of
Bay Roberts fisherman, being sound in mind and memory do on this twenty first
day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one, make
this my last will and Testament as follows. I give my eldest son Isaac
Mercer the whole of the parcel of land on which his dwelling house is built, also
that piece of land on which the forge of Mr. Charles Calpin stands together
with the Eastern half of my Bear's Cove land, said land to be divided into
two equal portions by a right line drawn from north to south, each and every
portion of land I give to my said son to be his solely and to do with as he
pleases.
Secondly. I give to my son Samuel Mercer my dwelling house
with the kitchen garden in front, together with all the land connected with
the house. Also the land leased to Mr. Donald Fraser and on which his drug
store stands. Also the piece of grass land between said store and Charles
Calpin's
forge. Also the piece of land known as the hill garden back of the Roman Catholic
Church. Also the western half of the land at Bear's Cove, each and every portion
of said land I give to him to be his sole property to do with as he may deem
fit. I also give to my son Samuel, my horse cart dray, wheels, and harness,
and whatever household stuff I may die possessed of. Also the piece of waterside
property which I own
And I hereby appoint Captain Henry Dawe and
Mr. William Parsons of Stephen as the Executors of this my
last will and testament and charge them to see its provisions faithfully carried
into effect. (Sgd)
Abraham his x mark Mercer. Signed Sealed and delivered by
the said testator in our presence and in the presence of each other on the
twenty first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and
one. Witnesses (sgd) Isaac

I certify the foregoing to be a correct
copy of the last will and Testament of Abraham Mercer deceased
