Will of Catherine McLoughlan

Last Will and Testament of
Catherine McLoughlan of St. John's
Spinster deceased.

      In the name of God Amen I Catherine McLoughlan of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland do make declare and publish the following as and for my last will and testament out of the sum of Four thousand dollars in Government stock I bequeath the following.

  • To the Roman Catholic Bishop of St. John's I will and bequeath the sum of eight hundred dollars for an annual high mass for the repose of the souls of my brother Patrick and myself.
  • To the Revds. N Roche P.P. Witless Bay, John Ryan and John Scott of St. John's the sum of Forty dollars each for masses for the repose of my soul.
  • To my brother Michael McLoughlan I will and bequeath the sum of Four hundred & Eighty dollars.
  • To my cousin Eliza Keating of Taghman Co Ceaford I will and bequeath the sum of one hundred dollars.
  • To the Roman Catholic Orphanage of Belvidere St. John's I will and bequeath the sum of twenty dollars.
  • To the Ladies Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. John's I will and bequeath the sum of Twenty dollars.
  • To my sister Mary I will and bequeath the interest of the remainder for her own use and benefit and desire her to pay every year during her life the sum of Forty eight dollars to my sister Margaret

After the death of my sister Mary I direct that the remainder of the principal sum be divided equally between the children of my brother James. I hereby revoke and annul all other wills by me made and nominate and appoint my sister Mary McLoughlan executrix of this my last will and Testament. Dated at St. John's E. F. this 7th day of June A.D. 1892 - (sgd) Catherine McLoughlan. Witnesses (sgd) J. D. Ryan (sgd) R. Clancy.

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Catherine McLoughlan deceased
