Will of Lucretia McLachlan In re Lucretia McLachlan deceased This is the last Will and Testament of me Lucretia McLachlan, wife of Alexander McLachlan, of St. John's, Boiler Inspector. First. I give all my property to my husband Alexander McLachlan for and during his natural life and after his death to my daughter Annie Violet McLachlan. Second. I request my said daughter to see that my sister Martha Leanon during her life shall not live in want of the ordinary comforts of life. Third. I appoint Reverend George H. Bolt of St. John's, Church of England Clergyman, and John Clouston of the same place Tinsmith. Executors of this my will. In witness whereof I the said Lucretia McLachlan have to this my will set my hand this 20th day of May Anno Domini one thousand nine hundred and eighteen. Lucretia McLachlan. Signed by the above named Lucretia McLachlan as her last will in the presence of us, present at the same time, who at her request, in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses, the words June and Seventeen above bearing(?) first being changed to May and Eighteen respectively. Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills.
They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written
by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor
presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list
the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book
in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing
most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.
We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be. |
