Will of Eliza Matthews from Newfoundland will books volume 5 page 77 probate year 1886

Last will and Testament of Eliza
Matthews of St. John's widow.

This is the last will and Testament of me Eliza Matthews of Saint John's widow I hereby revoke all former and other wills by me at any time made and desire that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be first paid by my executrix hereinafter named I give devise and bequeath to my said executrix all the property estate and effects of every description of which I shall die possessed upon the trusts and subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth that is to say. First to pay to Mary Rebecca Lucas the sum of five pounds per annum during her natural life the first payment to become due one year after my death. Second To hold my gold watch and chain in trust for Eliza Ellen Walsh daughter of George and Lavinia P. Walsh until she shall attain the age of twenty one years and then to deliver the said watch and chain to her as her sole property In the event of the said Eliza Ellen Walsh dying before she shall attain the age of twenty one years the said watch and chain shall be and become the property of her mother the said Lavinia P. Walsh Third I give devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my said property estate and effects to the said Lavinia P. Walsh for her sole separate and absolute use and benefit free from the control of her present or any future husband I appoint the said Lavinia P. Walsh sole executrix of this my last will and Testament - Eliza Matthews - Signed published and declared by the said Testator as and for her last will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence and in the presence of each other and at her request have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses this twelfth day of February Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and eighty six - Jas.
