Will of Patrick Maddox
from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 591-593 probate year 1917

In re
      Patrick Maddox          deceased.

      This is the last will and Testament of me Patrick Maddox of Bay Bulls Ferryland District N.f.l.d. made this 29th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seventeen    I hereby revoke all wills made by me at any time heretofore. I appoint Patrick Mulloy School Teacher Bay Bulls to be my Executor, and direct that all my debts and Funeral Expenses shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.
      I give and bequeath unto my wife Ellen Maddox my dwelling house and ground surrounding said house including garden situated on Southern side of dwelling house bounded on west side by Irish Town Road after death of said Ellen Maddox said house and ground is to become the property of my son Paul Maddox.
My Meadow ground situated in Irishtown bounded by Irishtown Road on western side of Edward Williams ground on north side and by Mr. Richard Williams ground on north east side is to be divided between my three sons, Stephen, William and Paul     William to have that part and parcel of said meadow ground from his house to a large Rock situated on said ground Stephen to have that part and parcel of said meadow from said “Rock” to my cellar, and Paul to have remainder from north side of cellar.
My part and Parcel of Ground situated between “Lower Path” and St. John’s Road. The part and parcel of this ground which is cleared and parcel of this ground which is clearedCHE I bequeath to my son Paul. The remainder of said ground uncleared is to be divided between my sons William and Stephen by a fence beginning at center of fence bounding “Lower Path” and running to cleared ground evenly dividing said uncleared ground. William to have ground north of dividing fence That part and parcel of Ground situated on the borders of Coleys River is to be divided equally between my sons, Stephen, William and Paul.
The amount of tenCHE nine hundred and seventy twenty dollars deposited at the Government Saving Bank at St. John’s    after the death of my wife Ellen Maddox is to be divided equally between my six children Margaret O’Driscoe, Alberta Williams, Esther Speck, Stephen, William, and Paul Maddox. The interest on said money is to be paid to my wife Ellen Maddox annually. No deduction, division or claim is to be made by any person in said amount of money deposited at said Bank until after death of my wife Ellen Maddox - Patrick his X mark Maddox    Signed by the said Testator Patrick his X mark Maddox in the presence of us, present at the same time, who at his request in his presence, and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses    witnesses Joseph his X mark Gatheral     Michael his X mark Keyhoe.
