Will of Frederic John Mackenzie-Grieve, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 pages 89 & 90 probate year 1930

CAPT FREDERIC JOHN MACKENZIE-GRIEVE, R.N.

THIS IS THE HOLOGRAPH WILL of me Capt FREDERICK JOHN MACKENZIE-GRIEVE R.N. (retired) of Fir Hill Dreyford Hampshire executed on the 3rd day of November 1926 and I hereby revoke all former wills and codicil I leave the following immediate legacies free of duty (five in number)  (1) fifty pounds to my brother John should he survive me  (2) fifty pounds to my nephew Colin  (3) two hundred pounds to my granddaughter Isabel  (4) thirty pounds to my gardener Ernest Parker if in my service at the time of my death  (5) One hundred pounds to Keith E. Maitland Esq W.S. as a small mark of my friendship & gratitude for all he has done for my wife and self  I leave one thousand pounds (£1000) to my grandson Malcolm together with my farm at Strathmere Alberta Canada  I leave one hundred pounds to each of my grand children not including Malcolm and Isabel to accumulate and paid to them at age of twenty one  I leave to my daughter Louisa Helen Mackenzie Grieve or Martin the sum of two thousand pounds (£2000)  I have settled three thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds (£3750) on my granddaughter Isobel invested in Clyde Navigation Funded Debt 4% Debs  This stock to be valued and a sufficient sum to be paid to her to make altogether five thousand pounds (£5000) such sum to be settled on her and her children and on her death if married in life rent to her husband and failing children to her brothers & sister or their representatives in equal portions  There is an appointment from my marriage trust funds to pay four thousand pounds (£4000) to the marriage trustees of my son Eric and one of the two, thousand pounds (£2000) to the marriage trustees of my daughter Louisa Helen Mackenzie Grieve or martin at my death  In the event of these appointments not coming into force through any clause in my marriage contract I wish these sums paid from my estate & refunded to same from my marriage trust  I appoint my sons Eric and Kenneth residuary legatees in the proportion of three fifths to Kenneth and two fifths to Eric  I appoint Keith Maitland Esq W.S. and my son Kenneth as trustees for my grand children  This my will is not to run contrary to any of the provisions in my marriage contract  I hereby revoke the appointment asking my son Alan to put in trust for payment to his son the amount expended by me on his sons education  Fir Hill and contents to be sold at my death  I appoint Keith R. Maitland Esq W.S. EDinburgh and Colin J. Mackenzie-Grieve Esq W.C.Ths Will House Bramley Burray EXECUTORS of this my will  I leave my son Eric 320 acres adjoining his farm in our Dunisfall (?) Abode (?)
