Will of Abram Le Drew

In re
      Abram Le Drew          deceased.

      In the name of God, Amen. I Abram Le Drew of Kelligrews South Shore in the district of Harbor Main, Farmer, being very sick and weak in Body, but of perfect mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament.
First I give and bequeath to my three sons Alfred, Thomas and William my inside land containing ten acres situate on Dawes Road, Kelligrews, to be equally divided between them Alfred to take the inside part, William the middle part and Thomas the outside part - The grant of the said piece of land will give the boundaries. I give and bequeath to my three sons Alfred, Thomas and William that piece of land situate on the said Dawes Road Kelligrews to be equally divided between them, Alfred to take the South part, William the middle part and Thomas the outside part - The said land is bound on the north by Robert Dawes land and the road, south by Isaac Le Drews land, East by Williams Mercer’s land and west by the road. The timber that is on the land each one has as much right to it as the other for fencing material &c.

To my son Alfred give and bequeath the whole of that piece of land on the west side of the road leading to the railway station where his house is situated. I also give my son Alfred a piece of land on the east side of the railway station road, twenty yards square the said piece of land to be close to the back of the railway station to make a kitchen garden for himself.

I give and bequeath to my two sons Thomas and William my dwelling house, goods and chattles, which is to be equally divided between them. I also give and bequeath to my two sons Thomas and William my stable, cellar and store to be equally divided between them - I also give and bequeath to my two sons the land in front of my dwelling house the land on which my dwelling house stable cellar and store are on (except the piece of land I have given my son Alfred) The said land is bound on the north by the Railway Co’s land south by Samuel Tilley and Isaac Dawes land, East by Tilley’s waterside road and west by station road and the piece of land I have given my son Alfred -
My big iron plough is for the use of my two sons Thomas and William and is never to be lent off the place except they go to use it themselves my small plough, harrow and scuppler, I leave to my two sons Thomas and William.

My wife Elizabeth is to live on the property and receive her support from it as long as she remains in my name, and if she should marry she is not to take anything from the property that I have given and bequeathed to my sons - My horse and cattle are for the use of my wife and two sons Thomas and William, they can use the horse for my son Alfred but he is not to have any claim on the animal - I give and bequeath to my son Alfred a feather bed, bedding and bedstead -

The money that I have in the Bank of Montreal in St. John’s I give and bequeath to my two sons Thomas and William but the said money and the interest is not to be drawn from the said Bank until my sons William shall attain to the age of twenty-one years and then the money is to be equally divided between them but should either of my two sons die the surviving one is to claim the whole amount at the age stated above 21 years.

My land up the pond inside the little bridge is to be equally divided between my three sons, north and south, my son Alfred is to take the west part, my son Thomas the middle part and my son William the other part. My land outside the bridge up the pond is to be divided between my two sons Thomas and William, my son Thomas is to take the south part and my son William the outside part.
My wife Elizabeth has to give my son Alfred enough brick to build a chimney in his house. My shop and all the goods in it I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth

• - I give and bequeath a silver dollar to William LeDrew son of Isaac Le Drew
• - I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane a two dollar gold piece and one fourteen pence piece
• - I give my breach loading gun to my son Thomas.
• I give my gun marked Hennebury to my son William
• - I give my musket to my son Thomas.
• I give the other gun to my son Alfred.
• I give and bequeath my waterside premises that was given and bequeathed to me by my father to my three sons Alfred, Thomas and William viz my part of the wharf stage, and beach - The part of the wharf that was given and bequeathed to my brother William, I hold a claim upon it and when that claim is paid by Mrs Selina Le Drew or Isaac Le Drew my claim will be withdrawn. My claim on the said wharf is twelve dollars and twenty five cents.
• I give and bequeath to my two sons Thomas and William one boat and a bait skiff. Isaac Le Drew is to take charge of the bait skiff and be a guide to my boys.
• I give and bequeath to my three sons Alfred Thomas and William all my fishing gear viz grapnel trawls rope &c.
• I give and bequeath to my sons Thomas and William a watch a piece.
• My Caplin seine I give and bequeath to my three sons Alfred, Thomas, and William and my nephew Isaac Le Drew.
• My Agricultural implements are for the use of the place.

And I hereby appoint Richard Hibbs of Lower Gully and Francis F. Furneaux Executors of this my last will and testament. And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments Wills Bequests and Executors by me in anywise before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this 10^th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and six Abram his x Mark Le Drew (LS) signed, sealed, published pronounced and declared by the said Abram Le Drew (having been first read over, as his last will and Testament, in the Presence of us who in his presence and in the Presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as witness having been first read over to him and explained Francis F.
