Will of Margaret Kent

Last will and Testament of
Margaret Kent of St. John’s
widow deceased

      This is the last will and Testament of me Margaret Kent of St. John’s I hereby revoke all wills by me at any time heretofore made and appoint James M. Kent of St. John’s Barrister-at-law the Executor of this my last will and Testament and I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease:
I give devise and bequeath unto my niece Mary Donnelly that piece of land together with the dwelling house and shop on Water Street in St. John’s at present occupied by Michael Kelly and it is my will and desire that the said Mary Donnelly shall out of the rent received for the same pay the sum of one hundred dollars per year for the saying of Masses for the souls of my husband my son and myself
All the rest residue and remainder of my property goods and chattels of every description I give and bequeath to my Executor James M. Kent to hold the same in trust for my grandchildren Margaret, or Rita, Kent Robert Kent and Mary Kent until the youngest shall attain the age of twenty one years; to devote the income arising from the said property to the education of my grandchildren until the youngest thereof shall attain the said age of twenty one years at which time my said Executor shall divide the said property amongst the said grandchildren or the survivors of them in such manner and in such proportions or shares as to him shall seem best provided that my said grandchild Robert Kent if he so wishes may take the farm and land at Kilbride in lieu of any other share or proportion of the said property.
I direct and agree that my Executor James M. Kent shall have and be entitled to receive from and out of my estate and effects the same professional fees costs charges and expenses commissions and percentage as if he were not Executor or Trustee under this my will
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twentieth day of May one thousand eight hundred and ninety six. (Sgd) Margaret Kent.
Signed by the Testatrix and acknowledged by her to be her last will and Testament in our presence who in her presence in the presence of each other and at her request have subscribed our names as witnesses (sgd) Martin W. Furlong (sgd) Donald M. Browning.

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Margaret Kent deceased
