Will of Matthew Joyce from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 318-319 probate year 1888

Last will and Testament
of Matthew Joyce of the
Goulds Farmer deceased.

This is the last will and Testament of me Matthew Joyce of the Goulds near St. John's Newfoundland Farmer. I give and bequeath unto my son John Joyce, all the farm, land messuage and premises which I hold under grant from the crown, and which I now occupy my son Michael Joyce, having and to have the farm, land, messuage, and premises which he now occupies purchased from Mahoney My sons aforesaid shall pay in equal proportions the amount for which the said farms are mortgaged. I also give and bequeath to my said John the piece of land about twenty five acres in the rear of the farm which I occupy and which land I purchased from the crown, but have not yet taken the grant out. I also give to my son John all my farm stock, horses, cattle, carriage, carts and other personal property. I give my daughter Ann the sum of forty pounds currency to be charged upon the property hereby given and bequeathed to my son John, and to be paid by him to her. I will that all my debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be paid by my son John and shall be charged upon the property bequeathed to him. St. John's Newfoundland the 18th day of August A.D. 1882.

I appoint my said sons executors of this my last will and Testament Matthew X Joyce. Signed and declared by the said Matthew Joyce as his last will and Testament in our presence who in his presence, and in the presence of each other have signed the same as witnesses to the due execution thereof, the same having been read over and explained to the said Matthew Joyce in our presence W. V. Whiteway. J. O. Fraser.
Dated 3rd September 1888.
