Will of Mary Louisa Jenkins from Newfoundland will books volume 14 pages 439-440 probate year 1929

In re       DECEASED.
MARY LOUISA JENKINS.

This is the last will and testament of me Mary Louisa Jenkins of Trinity in the Northern District of the island of Newfoundland, Married Woman.

  1. I give devise and bequeath unto my husband William Jenkins all I possess in goods, chattels and money if any left at the time of my decease for his use and benefit as long as he lives and after his death if he outlives me, the furniture, goods and chattels are to be sold by Public Auction and the proceeds divided as follows:- Three hundred dollars Ada L. Earle, twenty dollars each to all my surviving grandchildren the balance, after the above legacies are paid, to go to my daughter Ethel Lockyer.
  2. The suite of furniture in the front room, together with seven pictures one mantel and one hanging lamp belong to my son Malcolm, and if sold the proceeds go to him.
  3. I give and bequeath the Piano to my grand-daughter Jacqueline Lockyer and if sold the money goes to her.
  4. I give and bequeath to my four children Thomas G. Jenkins, Malcolm Jenkins, Dorothy G. Bullard and Ethel Lockyer all my silverware and cutlery share and share alike.
  5. The Hotel, stable and other out-houses with all land are to be sold (if any my children wish to buy they are to have first chance to do so) and after paying twenty five dollars each to my two executors, the balance of the proceeds to be divided amongst my four children, Thomas G., Malcolm, Dorothy and Ethel share and share alike.
  6. Dorothy's Paintings and Crayons are not to be sold, but packed and sent to her.
  7. Should my husband find it necessary to sell any part of the property for his support, he is at liberty to do so, but not otherwise, neither can he make any change or alteration in this my will.
    Lastly. I nominate and appoint my son Malcolm and F. Somerton Stipendiary Magistrate of Trinity, whose duty it will be to see that my husbands and my funeral expenses are paid out of the estate, and my will carried out in every particular.

In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal at Trinity aforesaid this twenty seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty seven.

Signed by the said Mary Louisa Jenkins the testatrix, as and for her last will and testament in our presence, who at her request, in her presence and in the presence of each other at the same time subscribe our names as witnesses.
