Will of Matthew Hudson In re MATTHEW HUDSON. DECEASED. This is the last Will and Testament of me Matthew Hudson, of Pouch Cove in the Electoral District of St. John's East in the Island of Newfoundland, Fisherman. I revoke all former wills by me at any time made and I appoint my son Charles Chesley Hudson the Executor of this my will. I will and direct that my just debts and my funeral and testamentary expenses shall be first paid out of my estate.
I give and bequeath my garden near Moulton's cellar to my said Executor in Trust to be conveyed by him to my grandson Bert, the son of my deceased son John when he reaches the age of twenty one years; if my said grandson should die before reaching the said age then the said garden to become the property of my said son Charles Chesley.
I give and bequeath to my said son Charles Chesley for his own was absolutely all the rest and residue of the property of which I may die possessed including my houses and land at Pouch Cove and Cape St. Francis and my trap and fishing premises also at the latter place.
In Witness Whereof I have subscribed my hand at St. John's, this Fifteenth day of November, A.D. 1916. MATTHEW HUDSON. CORRECT. (Listed in the Margin next to this will the following)

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor. We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be. |
