Will of Michael F. Howley
from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 290-291 probate year 1915

In re
      MICHAEL FRANCIS HOWLEY       deceased.

      In the name of God Amen    I Most Revd Michael F. Howley Catholic Archbishop of St. John’s do make publish and declare this as and for my last will and testament First I hereby devise all the property of which I may die possessed to the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of St. John’s for church purposes Second. Secondly all my clothes and wearing apparel I give to the St. Michael’s Convent Belvidere for the benefit of the Orphans- All my ecclesiastical robes, rings crosses vestments jewels and other episcopal ornaments I give to my successor in office My Theological and Scientific books I give to the Episcopal Library.    All my other brooks or such of them as may be useful towards forming a Library at Littledale Convent I give to the said Convent.    All my literary work writings leaflets historical literary and other manuscripts I give to the Revd W. H. Kitchen D.D. of St. Josephs to be examined and published by him at his discretion and I appoint him my literary executor for that purpose.    I will and direct that Rt Revd Mons. St. John of Torbay & Dr. T. M. Mitchell examine my private correspondence and destroy what they think right to do.    I hereby appoint the Administrator of the Cathedral Parish Rt Revd Monsignor Roche to be the executor of this my will and I direct that all my debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid as soon as possible after my death.    In witness whereof I have hereto subscribed my hand at St. John’s this 12th day of October 1914.     X M. F. Howley.    Signed by the said testator in our presence who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our hands as witnesses this 12th day of October 1914 J.M.
