Will of Johanna Howley
from Newfoundland will books volume 6 page 209 probate year 1895

Last Will and Testament of
Johanna Howley of St. John's
Widow deceased.

      I Hannah St. John Howley of St. John's Newfoundland widow of the late Alexander Howley of St. John's aforesaid, being of sound and disposing mind, tho weak in bodily health do hereby declare this to be my last will and Testament to wit. After all my lawful debts and funeral and other expenses shall have been paid I bequeath to my eldest son Edward Howley now in New York the farm on the Torbay Road in the vicinity of St. John's aforesaid and known by the name of "Lake Field" together with all buildings, utensils and appurtenances being upon or belonging thereto. I also bequeath to the said Edward St. J. Howley the script of the Harbor Grace water company's stock for £ 500.0.0 cy bearing interest at 4% per annum.
I bequeath to my younger son Alexander R. Howley the remaining portion of my property namely one government debenture of the value of four thousand dollars bearing interest at five per cent per annum and one government debenture of the value of one thousand seven hundred and ninety dollars and sixty cents bearing interest at five per cent per annum. I appoint as my sole executor the Right Rev. Michael F. Howley Bishop of St. John's, Newfoundland. (Sgd) Johanna Howley. Signed sealed and delivered this third day of September Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and ninety five as & for my last will & testament in the presence of us witnesses (sgd) John J. St. John (sgd) N. S. Fraser.

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Johanna Howley deceased
