Will of James Howlett
from Newfoundland will books volume 14 page 181 probate year 1928

To the Honorable the Supreme Court of Newfoundland or to one of the Honorable Judges thereof.

The Petition of Johanna Howlett of Petty Harbour Road in the Electoral District of St. John's West, Widow, humbly sheweth as follows:

  1. Your Petitioner's husband, James Howlett, late of Petty Harbour Road in the Electoral District aforesaid, Farmer,died at that place on the 12th, day of April A.D. 1919 having first made his Last Will and Testament but without having appointed any Executor thereof.

  2. The said Last Will is hereto annexed marked "A".

  3. The said deceased at the time of his death was possessed of property within the jurisdiction of Your Honorable Court of the probably value of $4,220.00 which is more particularly shown in the Inventory hereto annexed marked "B".

  4. Neither Probate of any Last Will nor Letter of Administration of the Estate of the said Deceased have as yet been granted to any person.

YOUR PETITIONER would therefore ask Your Honorable Court to grant her Letters of Administration, with the Will annexed, of the Estate of the said Deceased and as in duty bound will she ever pray, etc.

Dated at St. John's this 12th day of January A.D. 1928

Annex "A"

This is the last Will and Testament of me, James Howlett of Petty Harbour Road in the Electoral District St. John's, West in the Island of Newfoundland. I hereby give, devise and bequeath my farm and buildings on the Petty Harbour Road, my farm situated on the Bay Bulls Road, my stock cows, horses, farming implements and all other property of which I may die possessed to my wife Johanna Howlett.

In witness whereof I have hereunto my hand subscribed and set this 28th day of June in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifteen.

Signed, Published and declared by said Testator as and for his last will in the presence of us both being present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto affixed our names as witnesses
