Will of Samuel Hookey from Newfoundland will books volume 2 page 110 probate year 1852

In re
     Samuel Hookey      deceased.

July 26, 1852. In the name of God Amen. I Samuel Hookey do give and bequeath to my wife my part of the fishing room so long as she bides in my name I also give to my wife £100 that is in the Bank to support she & the children I also give to my son John Hookey the fishing Mosey I also give to my son Joseph Hookey the new punt. The balance that remains on Mr. Slade's books in England I also give to my wife and John Hookey my son to help support the younger brothers and sisters one gun for my son Joseph Hookey to be at their command at my descease.

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
