Will of Peter Holloway
from Newfoundland will books volume 12 pages 585 to 587 probate year 1924

In re
      PETER HOLLOWAY.          DECEASED.

Last will and testament.

Having made my peace with God, I, Peter Holloway of the town of Bloomfield in the Electoral District of Bonavista, in the Dominion of Newfoundland, do herein dispose of my worldly effects and goods as follows:-

      After my death, I do leave to my son Alvin, aged two years and at present residing with his grandmother, Mrs Fanny Chaffey in the adjourning town of Musgravetown, my land, dwelling house, and furniture, shop and effects, and other five stores belonging to the place, on the condition that my father Andrew Holloway, shall live on and control the place until his death.

      I direct that as soon as convenient after the death of my father, my organ, be removed to the home of and place in the care of, Mrs Lilias Stead at Musgravetown, who has agreed to take care of it until my son Alvin reaches the age of sixteen years.

      I appoint as my boy’s guardian, Mr Henzekiah Stead of Musgravetown, who will look after my son’s interest and welfare in so far as he may be able, and pay to Mrs Fanny Chaffey certain sums of money as I herein direct. The same to be used in my boy’s interest.

      Of the three thousand dollars at present to my credit in the Bank of Montreal at St. John’s, I dispose as follows:-
      Five hundred dollars to be paid to my father Andrew Holloway of the town of Bloomfield, the same to be paid on his demand or at any time he may require it. The balance of twenty five hundred dollars, I leave to my son Alvin with interest accumulated, to whose credit I desire the bank to place it as soon as this will comes into operation. I direct further that when requested that the aforementioned bank, shall pay to Mr. Hezekiah Stead the guardian of my son, the amount or amounts to the sum of five hundred dollars, for Alvin’s support, and at the end of eight years afer my death, a further six hundred dollars for my boy’s support and education.

      I further direct that the then balance of fourteen hundred dollars with accumulated interest be held at the Bank of Montreal for my boy until he shall have reached the age of sixteen years, which date will be the 23rd day of December 1937 A.D.

      In the event of Alvin’s death before reaching the age of sixteen years, I direct that the estate be disposed of as follows:-
      The sum of One hundred dollars to be paid to Mrs Fanny Chaffey, One hundred dollars be paid to the then Officer of the Salvation Army stationed at Musgravetown, to be used for improvements and repairs of the local corps property and the balance of the estate including the bank balance to be equally divided between, my father and my two brothers Kenneth and Duncan Holloway or which ever of them or their heirs are surviving at that time.

      To all of which I affix my signature this 7th day of March 1924.

This is a codicil to my last will dated 7th day March 1924, I hereby appoint my father, Andrew Holloway and Mr Hezekiah Stead, both named in my will to be my Executors.
      I witness thereof I subscribe my name this eighteenth day of March 1924.
