I, Adriel Rollis Hierlihy, of Bay Roberts, In the Island of Newfoundland, Farmer and Butcher, being of sound and disposing mind, do make and publish this as my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills. I devise and bequeath to my wife, Mary Jane Hierlihy, all the effects and property of which I may be possessed, as follows: - My Dwelling House, Furniture, Stables and Outhouses, Agricultural Implements and all other goods and chattles, together with the land surrounding said Dwelling House, stables, etc, and extending from the Brigus Road to Country Road. Also the piece or parcel of land situate at the junction of Water Street, Bay Roberts, and the Brigus (or main) Road; also the piece or parcel of land situate on the South Side of the Brigus Road and adjoining Michael Culleton's land, and the piece or parcel of land situate on the North Side of the Brigus Road at Birch Hill, and containing about Thirteen acres, together with all monies which I may possess at the time of my decease. I hereby appoint John George Hierlihy, my son, to be the Executor of my Will.
(Listed in the Margin next to this will the following)
|Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor. |
We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
