Last Will and Testament of
William B. Hickman of Channel
Master Mariner deceased.
In the name of God Amen I William Bragg
Hickman of Channel in the Southern District of Newfoundland Master Mariner, being of
sound mind, memory and understanding do make and publish and declare this my
last will and Testament in manner following that is to say: I give and bequeath
to my son Nelson and daughter Valetta the main building which I now occupy
of my dwelling house and all its furniture and whatever money is left after
my burial and that portion of land on which the house stands, and all surrounding
land not hereinafter specified with all stores, stages and other appurtenances
thereon with waterside premises to be equally divided between the said Nelson and Valetta.
I also bequeath to my son Robert Forsey that portion of my
house he now occupies namely the kitchen and one bed room on the second flat
of the main building in the east end of the house to be occupied by him as
long as he may please, but in the event of his leaving it shall become the
property of the owners of the main building.
I also give to my son
William James that portion of land north by the main road bounded as follows.
Viz: on the west by the old protestant graveyard and on the east by land occupied
by Mr Retiff and Mrs George Lemoine.
I also
give my sons Robert Forsey and William James the
right of landing on waterside premises and removing at once anything they may
want for their use.
My own wearing apparel and watch I bequeath to my son Nelson.
It is further my will that if my daughters Mrs Strickland, Mrs. Cave and Mrs
Rennie wish to take one picture each as a memento they may be allowed to do
so by the said Nelson and Valetta.
And
of this my last will and Testament I appoint Mr Richard H. Parsons and Mr
Samuel Genge of Channel my executors hereby revoking all former wills I declare this
to be my last will and Testament In witness hereof I have set my hand and seal
at Channel west coast of Newfoundland this twenty first day of December in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety three. (Sgd) William

us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed

I certify the foregoing to be a correct
copy of the last will and Testament of William B. Hickman deceased
