Last Will and Testament of
Patrick Hickey of Holyrood
Farmer deceased.
In the name of God Amen. I Patrick
Hickey of
Holyrood Conception Bay, Newfoundland, Farmer, being of sound and disposing
mind and memory do make and publish this as my last will and Testament hereby
revoking all former wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore at any by
me made. I hereby appoint Richard Dwyer, School Teacher to be executor of my
will I hereby direct my said executor to pay my funeral and testamentary expenses
as soon as possible after my decease and to have a high mass offered up for
the repose of my soul. I hereby give devise and bequeath to my Grandson Stephen
Hickey his heirs forever my house and premises and all my household property
of every kind and description whatever excepting one bed and bed-stead. I
hereby give devise and bequeath to my Grandson Stephen Hickey his heirs for
ever five pieces or parcels of land, namely, one piece of land outside the
track, bounded E. by water of the Harbor S. by Railway Track E. by Wm
Curran's
land and W. by Thomas Butler's (2) one piece of land bounded S.W. by "Branch
Road" N.E. by James Butler's (3) one piece of land bounded N.E. by James
Butler's
S.W. by "Pond Road" (4) one piece of land bounded S.W. by Joseph
Hick's and
N.E. by Branch Road, and (5) one piece of land bounded S.E. by Patrick
Hickey's
(of Thomas) and S.W. by "Butter Pot Pond Road" I hereby will that should my
grandson Stephen die without issue his interest and right to my house, premises
and land shall pass to my sons Michael and Patrick equally with the express
condition and stipulation that they pay two dollars each per year for masses
for the repose of my soul. It is also my will that should my grandson Stephen through ill health or old age be necessitated to sell the land or anything
else of my real or personal estate whatever, I hereby give him full power and
authority to so sell or dispose of what he thinks fit. It is also my will that
after my grandson Stephen's death all his removable property left except (house
and premises) shall be sold and the proceeds shall be devoted by my executor
to paying for masses - high and low for the repose of my own my wife's and
my grandson Stephen's soul. Lastly I give devise and bequeath unto
my niece Elizabeth Harding one bed and bedstead. In witness whereof I have
hereto set my hand and seal this tenth day of January A.D. 1901 (sgd) Patrick

Hickey as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us present
at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of
each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses to the due execution

I certify the foregoing to be a correct
copy of the last will and Testament of Patrick Hickey deceased
