JAMES JOHN HENNESSEY deceased.
In the name of God Amen. I James
John Hennessey of Kelligrews in the District of Harbor Main in the
Island of Newfoundland, Fisherman, and Farmer being not very well in body but
of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament. My
land south of the main road is to be divided between my sons in the following
manner-
First, to my son William John I give and bequeath the land
that he now occupies, bound on the North by land I intend giving my son Robert,
South by land owned by the late Philip Walsh, East by the
river and West by the local road. Also the land that his dwelling
house and other erections are on, bound on the North by land I intend giving
my son Azariah South by the main road, East by land I intend giving my son
Robert and West by local road or Nugent’s road-
To my
son Robert I give the land that he now occupies bound on the North by land
I intend giving my son Azariah, South by land I have given his brother William
John East by the river and West by local road- I also give
and bequeath to my son Robert the land that his dwelling house and other erections
are on, bound on the North by land I intend giving my son Azariah South by
the main road East by land I intend giving my son Azariah and West by land
I have given his brother William John-
To my son Azariah I
give and bequeath the land that he now occupies and the whole of the strip
of land from the river to the local road after my death, bound on the North
by land I intend giving my son Matthew, South by the land I have given his
brother Robert, East by the river and West by local road- I also give to my son Azariah the land that his dwelling house and other erections
are on, bound on the North by land I intend giving my son Matthew, South by
the main road, East by land I intend giving my son Matthew and West by his
brother Robert’s land I also give and bequeath
to my son Azariah that piece of partly cultivated land bound on the North by
land I intend giving my son Matthew, South by land I have given his brother
William John and Robert, East by land I intend giving my son Matthew and
West by local road.
I give and bequeath to my son Matthew the following
property that he is not to take possession of until after the death of his
mother if I should die before her and also that he is kind to his imbecil brother
Joseph, viz. dwelling house, goods and chattels, stable, cellar,
cultivated and uncultivated land, bound on the north by Edward Nugent,
South by Philip
Dwyer, the main road and a piece of land I have given my son Azariah,
East by Nugent’s road and West by local road. I also
give my son Matthew the outside strip of my inside land, bound
on the North by Jane Nugent and sons land, South by land I
have given his brother
Azariah, East by the river and West by the local road. I
also give to my son Matthew all
my agricultural implements, carpenters tools, gun and loose gear that I may
be possessed of at my death- And I do hereby utterly disallow,
revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments, wills and bequests
by me in anywise before named willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming
this and no other, to be my last will and testament. In
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 5th day
of October in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and five- James

first read over) as his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who
in his presence, and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed

of Supreme Court of Newfoundland.
