JAMES HAYES.

This is the last will and testament of James Hayes of Fortune Harbour in the Island of Newfoundland.
I James Hayes being of sound disposing mind and memory and understanding do hereby devise and bequeath as follows.

1. To my two granddaughters Mary Elen and Hilda Margaret Hayes daughters of Nicholas Hayes and my daughter Kate Hayes all my land and houses thereon share and share alike.
2. In the event of my daughter Kate Marying she forfits all claim to any part of property but if her husband should die before her she again can claim her part in any case if she want to return she can do so her self only.
3. My wife Mary must and will stay in the homestead all her natural life.

I nominate and appoint John Hamilton and Patrick Lane both of Fortune Harbour executors of my last will and testament in witness whereof I have signed my name at Fortune Harbour as aforesaid on this twenty eight day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty four. Signed published & declared by Jas Hayes the testator, in his presence and in our presence and in the presence of each other at his request at the same time signed our names as witnesses
