Will of Catherine Hayes
from Newfoundland will books volume 8 pages 216 to 218 probate year 1907
This will is also recorded in volume 8 page 335, with the Fiat.

In re
      Catherine Hayes          deceased.

      This is the last will and testament of me Catherine Hayse of St. John’s in the Island of Newfoundland wife of Edward Hayse of the same place tanner.    I direct that my executor hereinafter named will first pay my Just debts funeral and testamentary expenses.
First I devise and bequeath unto my husband Edward Hayse whatever interest I possess in the dwelling house built on the land of my said husband Edward.
Secondly:- I give and bequeath unto my brother Terence Morrissey the crayon portrait of my father.
Thirdly:- I give and bequeath unto my sister Margaret wife of Thomas Nash my fathers feather bed.
Fourthly: I give and bequeath unto my husband Edward Hayse all the residue and remainder of my household furniture.
Fifthly:- I devise and bequeath unto Father McDermot Roman Catholic Priest of St. Patricks Parish in St. John’s aforesaid all my interest in or share of that piece or parcel of land with dwelling house thereon situate on the East side of Sudbury Street in St. John’s aforesaid and bounded on the north by the “Poor Asylum” and on the south by property of the Bennett Brewing Company for the purpose of celebrating masses for the repose of the souls of my father and myself. But this bequest is made subject to the payment by the said Father McDermot of the sum of twenty dollars to Sister Aloysius of the Presentation Convent in St. Patricks Parish in St. John’s aforesaid and I hereby give and bequeath the said sum of twenty dollars to the said Sister Aloysius.
Sixthly:- I devise and bequeath unto my husband Edward Hayse all my interest in or share of that piece or parcel of land situate on Water and Sudbury Streets in St. John’s aforesaid and bounded on the north by property of one Collier, on the south by Water Street, on the East by property of the Bennett Brewing Company and on the west by Sudbury Street
Seventhly:- I hereby appoint my husband Edward Hayse sole executor of this my last will and testament
Eighthly:- I hereby revoke all testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me In witness whereof I have hereunto my hand subscribed at St. John’s in the Island aforesaid this twenty sixth day of November Anno Domini one thousand nine hundred and six Catherine Hayse. Signed by the said testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses    Thomas Grant     J.J. McCarthy
