Last Will and Testament of
James Harney of St. Mary’s S.D.
Justice of the Peace, deceased.

      This is the last will and Testament of me James Harney of St. Marys Stipendiary Magistrate. I give devise and bequeath all my land situated in Saint Marys aforesaid together with my dwelling house and stores and also my household furniture and household effects unto my sister Mary Bridget Harney absolutely. I give and bequeath the sum of four hundred dollars unto the Right Reverend Doctor Power Roman Catholic Bishop of St. John’s and his successors in office to have masses said for my soul.
I give devise and bequeath my land situate between Burin and Burin Bay which I hold of the Crown unto Nicholas Handok?? of Burin Bay fisherman. I appoint Peter Whelan Of Saint Marys aforesaid Planter to be sole Executor of this my will. In witness whereof I the said James Harney have to this my last will and Testament set my hand this twenty-third day of October one thousand Eight hundred and ninety-three. (Sgd) James Harney. Signed by the said James Harney the Testator in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other at the same time subscribe our names as witnesses. (Sgd) Hugh H. Carter.
