Will of John Handcock
from Newfoundland will books volume 10 page 278 probate year 1914

In re
      JOHN HANDCOCK deceased.

      This is the last will and testament of me John Handcock of John of Brooklyn in the District of Bonavista made this thirty first day of May one thousand nine hundred and ten    I devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate as follows unto my oldest son George Lodge Handcock one half of my land situate inside of the public road at Powers Cove Brooklyn aforesaid I also further bequeath to my aforesaid son George Lodge one half of all my land situate at Sandy Cove South East Arm Brooklyn aforesaid    Unto my two sons Caleb and Alexander Mark the half in half portions of the aforesaid piece of land situate inside of public road at Powers Cove Brooklyn aforesaid Also to my two sons Caleb and Alexander Mark aforementioned two thirds in equal portions of all my land situate outside of public road at Powers Cove Brooklyn aforesaid and one half in equal portions of all my land at Sandy Cove Brooklyn aforesaid
Unto my son Caleb dwelling house now in my occupation And it is my wish that my son Alexander Mark have the dwelling house now owned by my son Caleb    Unto my wife Selina and my youngest daughter Ellen also one third of all my land situate outside of public road at Powers Cove Brooklyn aforesaid Also all my furniture and personal effects and $200.00 two hundred dollars now in the Bank of Montreal Saint John’s and that my wife Selina and my youngest daughter Ellen shall have a home in either of the houses afore refered to in this my will booth untill they marry and I appoint my sons George L. and Caleb to be executors of this my will in witness whereof I have made my mark at the foot of and hereof in the presence of the two subscribing witnesses    JOHN his X Handcock of John     We the undersigned have attested the execution of the foregoing writing by the said John Handcock he making his mark hereto as and for his last will in the sight and presence of us present at the same time    Signed by the testator John Handcock (by his mark) and published and delivered by him as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us the subscribers on the 13th day of September Anno Domini nineteen hundred and ten who in presence of the said testor and of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses on the day last above written the same having been first read over and explained to the testator in our presence and by him fully approved Henry G. Stares     Edwin James Ryall Nichols.
