Terrence Hallern

 

Will of Terrence Hallern from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 314-315 probate year 1888.
This name is spelled Terrence Halleran in the will index, and Terrence and Terrance Hallern in the will.

Last will and Testament
of Terrence Hallern of
St. John's Master Mariner
deceased.

I Terrance Hallern of Saint John's do make ordain and publish the following as and for my last will and Testametn viz. To my executor hereinafter named I will and bequeath all my landed property, goods, chattels, bank stock, monies and effects to take, have and hold the same for the sole use and benefit of my beloved wife Catherine during her lifetime and subject to her disposition by will or deed wherein I direct and desire proper provision shall be made for the support and maintenance of our niece Annie now residing with us, and which I now impose as a charge on my estate and after having made such provision it is my further will and desire that my wife will direct the appropriation after her demise, of the residue of my estate to such religious and charitable purposes as in her judgment she may consider most deserving of consideration. I hereby nominate and appoint the Roman Catholic Bishop for the time being of Saint John's, executor of this my last will and testament revoking and cancelling all other wills made by me. Dated at St. John's this _______ day of August 1877. T. Hallern. - Witness J. J. Milley - Edward Burke.

Codicil
I Terrence Hallern of St. John's the Testator in the above written will named do hereby make and publish this as and for a codicil to the above written will. In addition to and to act in conjunction with the Roman Catholic Bishop of St. John's for the time being, I hereby nominate and appoint the Reverend Patrick Delaney of St. John's Roman Catholic Priest, and Henry Cook of St. John's manager of the Commercial Bank of Newfoundland as executors of my said will and of this codicil thereto, and I confirm my said will in all other respects, Dated at St. John's this 25th day of September A.D. 1884. T. Hallern. Witnesses Robt J. Kent. P. J. Delaney Henry Cooke. -

In the Supreme Court, In the matter of the last will and Testament and the codicil thereto of Terrence Hallern late of St. John's master Mariner deceased. - I the most Reverend Thomas J. Power Bishop of Saint John's make oath and say that I firstly and voluntarily renounce all right to act as executor of the last will and Testament with codicil thereto of Terrence Hallern late of St. John's in the Central District of Newfoundland Master Mariner deceased, and that I have not in any intermeddled with the affairs of the said estate. X T. J. Power. Sworn before me at St. John's this 21st day of January A.D. 1888. George J. Adams. Comm. S.C.
