Last Will and Testament of
Elias Greenway of Plymouth, Devon
England Carpenter deceased.
The last will and Testament of Elias
Greenway of Saint John's Newfoundland Carpenter. 1. I direct that my just
debts funeral expenses and the cost of a monument be defrayed out of my property. 2.
Subject as aforesaid I leave for the use and support of my beloved wife Amelia so long as she shall remain unmarried the rents interests issues and profits
of all and singular my property of every kind during her life. 3.
I give to my niece Dinah Box free from the control of any future husband Fifty
shares standing in my name in the Newfoundland General Water Company or if
sold the proceeds thereof, the same to be transferred or paid to her on the
decease of my said wife or on her marrying again. 4 Upon the death
of my said wife or in the event of her marriage I leave all and singular the
residue of my said property to my son John W. Greenway his executors administrators
and assigns for ever. 5. I appoint George Thomas Rendell of Saint
John's aforesaid merchant the executor and Trustee of this my will and I direct
that he shall be paid out of my said property for the time and trouble of managing
the same at the rate of five per centrum for collecting and paying the rents
interest or other profits. And for winding up my said estate and transferring
the same as herein directed one and a quarter per cent upon the value thereof In
witness whereof I have to these presents subscribed my name at St. John's aforesaid
the thirtieth day of March anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and seventy
six hereby revoking all other and former wills by me at any time made. (Sgd)
Elias Greenway. Executed by the said Testator in presence of us who in presence
of each other and of the said Testator have subscribed our names as witnesses
hereto the day and year and at the place aforesaid. (Sgd) Geo. Robinson (sgd)

Codicil of the will of Elias Greenway of Plymouth
Devon England formerly of Saint John's Newfoundland dated the thirteenth day
of March one thousand eight hundred and seventy six. I hereby revoke and annul
the third clause of my said will whereby I bequeathed to my niece Dinah
Box (now Dinah Curran) Fifty shares in the Newfoundland General Water company or
the proceeds thereof having paid her a sum of money in lieu of said bequest.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name at Plymouth Devon, this
fourteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five. (Sgd)
Elias Greenway. Signed by the said Elias Greenway in presence of us who in
his presence and in that of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as
witnesses at the place and on the date above written. (Sgd) Jas
W. Darton of 7 May Terrace Plymouth accountant. (Sgd) Edith
Jane Matthews 7 May Terrace Plymouth spinster.
I certify the foregoing to be a correct
copy of the last will and Testament and codicil of Elias Greenway deceased
