Will of Josiah Goodyear, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 pages 202 & 203 probate year 1930

JOSIAH GOODYEAR

I Josiah Goodyear contractor of the Town of Grand Falls Newfoundland being of sound mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament (all other wills being revoked)  I give devise and bequeath to my wife Louisa Highmore Goodyear $5000.00 five thousand dollars in cash, $2000.00 two thousand dollars in Newfoundland victory bonds, $1000.00 one thousand dollars in Canadian victory bonds, one third of the properties and business at Grand Falls (while the business is kept running as it is at present) $100.00 one hundred dollars is also to be paid to my wife Louisa H. Goodyear monthly out of the business should be runned differently, that is to say, if the rent and fuel, and light etcetera has to be paid separately- then she is to be paid $130.00 (one hundred and thirty dollars) per month the same as the other shareholders, my sons Roland C. Goodyear and H. K. Goodyear. Also my wife Louisa H. Goodyear is to receive 1/3 (one third) of any balance of the money that may be left, after the expenses have been all paid (that is the expenses of running the business) at the end of each month. Then there are four shares in the Little River Coal Mine of Newfoundland, also $4000.00 (four thousand) on the Saw Mill at Rocky Bay Newfoundland - all of which is to go to my wife Louisa H. Goodyear.
To my four Grand Children vis; Oswald Raymond Goodyear of Roland $250.00 two hundred and fifty dollars. Hedley Goodyear of Roland $250.00 two hundred and fifty dollars. Kenneth D. Goodyear of H. K. $250.00 two hundred and fifty dollars). Hedley Goodyear Gordon son of my daughter Daisy Gordon $250.00 two hundred and fifty dollars. Two shares in the Little River Coal mine of Newfoundland for each of the above named Grand Children.
Before any monies is divided $1500.00 fifteen hundred is to be paid to my son Josiah Robert Goodyear unless that amount has been paid him before. The balance of whatever monies may be remaining is to be equally divided between my four children vis; Roland C. Goodyear, Josiah R. Goodyear, N. Kenneth Goodyear, and my daughter Daisy M. Gordon. Two shares in the Little River Coal Mine of Newfoundland to each of the above named children vis; R.C. Goodyear, H.K. Goodyear, Josiah D. Goodyear, Daisy M. Gordon- also 100 (one hundred) shares in the St Georges Coal Field Mine of Newfoundland to each of the above last named children.
After my death and the death of my wife Louisa H. Goodyear, I devise and bequeath to my son Josiah R. Goodyear all the rest and residue of my real and personal estate of every kind and description and wheresoever situate? N.P.  Error
I appoint my son Roland C. Goodyear my executor

I hereby add this codicil to my last will dated Sept 19th 1922 and make the following changes. All my grandchildren are to be eliminated, and will not be considered. My son Josiah Robert Goodyear is now and has been for some time a member of the firm of Josiah Goodyear and Sons, and will receive an equal share of my estate, with my sons, R.C. Goodyear and H. K. Goodyear and my daughter Daisy M. Gordon. Should I predecease my wife the estate is not to be divided until after her death, then each of my three sons and my daughter are to receive equal shares of the whole estate.
In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand this 8th day of Nov 1924.
