Will of Richard Goff
from Newfoundland will books volume 6 pages 128-129 probate year 1894

Last Will and Testament of
Richard Goff of Salmonier
Planter deceased.

In the name of God Amen I Richard Goff of Salmonier being through the goodness of Almighty God of sound mind and memory but being aware of the uncertainty of human life do make publish and declare this my last will and Testamony. That is to say first I recommend my soul to God, who gave it, and desire that my body may be decently buried in cemetery in place selected for my family interment. With respect to my worldly estate I give bequeath and dispose of it in the following manner. First I give and bequeath to my son John the first part of my property for a life interest bounded by Garrett Curtis's land on the east and on the west by a boundary stake midway between both houses I also give to my daughter Mary the second part of my land bounded on the west by a large rock or stake, also life interest. Third or last I give unto my grandson Richard a lot of land bounded on the east by the rock or stake and on the west by Church property.
This land or property is never to be sold mortgaged or taken out of the surname of Goff. I also state that after my childrens death each of my grand children including her child shall have an equal share of land, not including my grandson Richards. This land is in my possession since the date 1827. (Sgd) Richard his x mark Goff witness (sgd) F. R. Curtis. (Sgd) William Curtis -
