Will of Robert Joseph Gear In re I Robert Joseph Gear of St. John’s Newfoundland Engineer Declare this to be my last and true will and Testament. 1 I give and bequeath to Annie Ryall daughter of William J. Ryall of Brooklyn New York, The House and premises on water street now held under lease by Thomas McCarthy and forming part of the Estate Known as the Angel estate and bequeathed me by my late wife; to be hers absolutely. 2nd To my Godson William Scott of St. John’s Engineer I give all my Shooting & fishing appliances 3rd In consideration of all the attention and kindness shown me and
my late wife by my friend Charlotte Lydia Rendell daughter of the late
Charles Rendell of Hearts Content. I will, devise & bequeath
for her benefit, and to enjoy during such time as she remain unmarried,
all my land and Dwelling House situated, and numbered 15 Gower
Street, Also all Interest derived from Stock held in the Empire
Woodworking Company of St. John’s,
also from Five Hundred and fifty Dollars loaned the Newfoundland
British Society, Also that derived from my interest in the Estate
known as the Angel Estate and all monies and property whatsoever
and wheresoever situated at the time of my death. It is also my
will with regard to all my Household Furniture and effects, that
the aforesaid Charlotte Lydia Rendell have full power, to sell
the same furniture and effects, if it be to her more convenient
and enjoy the Interest to be derived from the proceeds thereoff.
In the event of the marriage of the aforesaid Charlotte
L. Rendell I will and bequeath her Two Hundred
Dollars, to be hers absolutely with no further claim on my Estate.
It is also my will that if my Household Furniture and effects be not sold before the marriage or death of my friend Charlotte L. Rendell that it be then sold and the proceeds together with other monies be distributed as follows, that is to say.
And finally I hereby appoint, and make my friend Charlotte Lydia Rendell executrix and my nephew Robert Gear McDonald executor to this my last will & testament. In testimony whereof I the said Robert Joseph Gear have hereunto subscribed my name at St. John’s this Eleventh day of February one Thousand nine Hundred & nine Rob Joseph Gear Signed, published & declared by the said Robert Joseph Gear on the above date, in our presence who in his presence, and in the presence of each other have hereunto affixed our names as witnesses.
