Last Will and Testament of
Margaret Gallishaw of St. John's
Widow deceased.
This is the last will and Testament of me Margaret
Gallishaw of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland widow. I direct that
my Executor hereinafter named shall out of my general estate first pay all
my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses. 1. I give devise
and bequeath to my brother Thomas Ryan of St. John's Fisherman, my dwelling
house land and premises situate on Gower Street in the town of St. John's aforesaid
for and during his natural life: upon his decease to become the property of
my nephew John Ryan (son of the said Thomas Ryan) absolutely provided my said
nephew shall before receiving an assignment of the said property and within
three months after the death of my said brother Thomas Ryan pay to my niece
Mary Margaret Webber at present residing in New York, wife of George
Webber,
the sum of four hundred dollars for her sole use and benefit and also shall
within the said period and before receiving his title to the said property
pay to the Reverend Administrator of the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. John's
the sum of forty dollars for the purpose of having a high mass celebrated for
the repose of my soul and the soul of my deceased husband Philip Gallishaw.
In the event of my said nephew not paying the said amount of four hundred dollars
and forty dollars for the purposes and within the period hereinbefore mentioned
I give devise and bequeath my said dwelling house land and premises to my said
niece Mary Margaret Webber for her sole use provided she shall not be given
possession of the said property by my said executor until she shall have fulfilled
the condition before mentioned of having a high mass celebrated for the repose
of my soul and the soul of my said deceased husband. 2. I give and
bequeath to my Godson James Quigley my feather bed 3. I give and
bequeath to my said nephew John Ryan my clock and mirror. 4. I give
and bequeath to Henrietta Gallishaw of St. John's Spinster, all my pictures
at present in my dwelling house 5. I give and bequeath to Ellen
Ryan all the remainder of my household furniture goods and effects. 6. I hereby
appoint Frank D. Lilly of St. John's Barrister-at-law to be the sole executor
of this my last will and testament. Dated at St. John's aforesaid this fifth
day of February anno Domini one thousand nine hundred and one. (Sgd) Margaret
Gallishaw. Signed by the said Margaret Gallishaw as her last will and Testament
in the presence of us both being present at the same time who in her presence
at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our
names as witnesses. (Sgd) Frank D. Lilly. (Sgd) Thomas Grant
I certify the foregoing to be a correct
copy of the last will and Testament of Margaret Gallishaw deceased
