Will of John Fleet
from Newfoundland will books, volume 11 page 483 probate year 1920

In re John Fleet       deceased

May 11th 1920. I John Fleet of number 5 Long Street off Long's Hill, St. John's Newfoundland, being in my right state of mind do here and bequeath all my property consisting of land, house and furniture and all its effects, to Elsie May Stone, belonging to Smith's Sound, Trinity Bay, and who has been living with me and seeing to my comforts these last eight years, and whoever the said Elsie May Stone marries, the said property cannot be sold without her consent.
Signed this eleventh day of May one thousand nine hundred and twenty. John his X mark Fleet
Witnesses. Henry T. Stone.   John Gardner.

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
