Will of Edward Flaherty from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 298-299 probate year 1888. Last will and Testament of In the name of God, Amen. To my son James Flaherty I will and bequeath subject to the bequests hereinafter set forth all my lands chattels and effects to have and hold the same during his life time and on his demise without issue I will and bequeath the land on which my dwelling house is erected together with said house the kitchen garden appurtenant thereto and sufficient of my ground for the setting or planting of two barrels of seed potatoes to Ann wife of said James and Patience Gorman my granddaughter to hold the same share and share alike as tenants in common but in the event of the event of the death of the said Ann or her remarriage then said Patience Gorman shall hold the same absolutely. On my said son so dying I will and bequeath the rest and remainder of my lands and chattels to my four daughters Patience Gorman Betsy or Elizabeth Furey Annie Rorke and Mary Wade share and share alike.
