Will of Joseph Fitzgerald
from Newfoundland will books volume 7 page 70 probate year 1901

Last Will and Testament of
Joseph Fitzgerald of St. John's
Fisherman deceased.

      This is the last will and Testament of me Joseph Fitzgerald of St. John's Fisherman
First I give devise and bequeath to my brother Andrew all that piece or parcel of land with the tenement house thereon No 32 situate on Convent Square in the west end of the town of St. John's aforesaid together with the piece or parcel of land adjoining which said adjoining piece of land measures as frontage sixteen feet more or less To hold the same unto him for ever
Secondly I give and bequeath to my executor hereinafter named the sum of sixty dollars to be distributed by him as follows viz: the sum of Twenty dollars to the Belvidere Orphanage the sum of twenty dollars to the Sisters of Mercy of St. John's and the sum of Twenty dollars to the Reverend Brother Slattery in aid of the Industrial School at Mount Cashel.
Thirdly I give and bequeath to my brother James Fitzgerald the sum of one hundred dollars
Fourthly I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my estate moneys and effects to my Brothers John Fitzgerald and Andrew Fitzgerald to be equally divided between them but it is my desire and I hereby direct that my said executor shall out of the moneys of my estate pay all my funeral expenses and provide a headstone and railing to be erected at my burial place.
I hereby appoint my said Brother John Fitzgerald to be the executor of this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand this Twenty fifth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one (sgd) Joseph Fitzgerald. Signed published and declared by the Testator as his last will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto our hands subscribed as witnesses.       I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Joseph Fitzgerald deceased
