Last will and testament
of Edmund Fitzgerald
of St. John's Laborer Deceased

This is the last will and testament of me Edmund Fitzgerald of Saint John's. I revoke all former wills by me at any time made. I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Francis all the property of which I shall die possessed together with the money to my credit at the Newfoundland Savings Bank for her sole separate and absolute use whilst she shall remain unmarried. In the event of my said daughter at any time marrying I direct that my said property which consists of eight tenement houses shall be at once sold and realized and the proceeds of such sale or realization tegether with whatever balance shall then be remaining to the credit of my estate in the Newfoundland Savings Bank shall be divided equally amongst my four daughters Ellen wife of one Young, Mary wife of William Wilson, Kate wife of ??? Baker and my before mentioned daughter Frances. In the event of my said daughter Frances dying before marriage I direct that the said property hereby bequeathed to her shall be realized and sold and the proceeds of such sale or realization tegether with whatever money may at that time be to the credit of my estate in the Newfoundland Savings Bank shall be divided equally amongst my surviving daughters. I appoint William Churchill of St. John's Master Mechanic executor of this my last will and testament. Witness my hand at Saint John's aforesaid this ninth day of January A.D. eighteen hundred and ninety one Ed. Fitzgerald. Signed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses the same having been first read over to the said testator and explained and the word Fanny erased and "Frances" substituted therefor in the twenty second line of the foregoing sheet Wm. Churchill Edward Shea.
I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and testament of Edmond Fitzgerald.
